DRY CARPET CLEANING SAN JOSE….Does Steam cleaning qualify?
Dry carpet cleaning methods came about in the 70’s when the carpet cleaning method of choice was either shampoo or steam cleaning. The problem with shampooing and steam cleaning then was that they left carpet wet for too long. Another disadvantage of these carpet cleaning methods was that they left a negative residue resulting in carpet resoiling prematurely. This was a great niche for the so called new dry carpet cleaning methods. Dry carpet cleaning methods were either using a carbonated type of carpet cleaner or an absorbant powder that was agitated in the carpet fibers then vacuumed away. Dry carpet cleaning methods are still in use today and do have a valid place in the carpet cleaning arsenal. We feel that they are best used in commercial environments with light to medium soil loads that are not of the greasy type. The short nap of commercial carpet can be a viable candidate for dry cleaning methods. Because of their speed of use, dry carpet cleaning methods allow the operator to clean more square footage per hour. This is attractive to the commercial client.
Hot water extraction / Steam cleaning carpet cleaning methods of course are still around. In some cases the complaints that customers have with this carpet cleaning method is the same as it was 30 years ago. Long dry times and a negative residue. The major carpet mills have always and still recommend hot water extraction as the method that removes the most soil, so what gives?
Fortunately there are tools and techniques today that allows any hot water / steam cleaning company to thoughroughly clean your carpets and have them dry in just a few hours. Today’s green cleaning solutions allows carpet to also be left with virtually no residue. Though this is available to just about anyone that cares to educate themselves with the latest tools, there are many that may be stuck in their old ways. Either that or they are just too hurried to get to the next job.
In conclusion, there are many types of carpet cleaning methods. The best carpet cleaning company is one that has more then one method and is trained and qualified to properly asses your carpet and apply the best method. Hot water extraction is still the method with the most soil removal and when performed by someone with knowledge of new techniques will have you walking on your carpets in just a few hours. Hire someone with the best of both worlds; hot water extraction with quick dry times and residue free cleaning.
As always, feel free to email me with your carpet cleaning or flooring questions.
